Playa Túmbolo y Playa Esperanza se encuentran en el municipio de Manatí, en la costa norte de Puerto Rico frente al Océano Atlántico. Esta región experimenta energía de olas consistente debido a los vientos alisios, con la costa norte recibiendo más energía marina que la costa sur, especialmente durante los meses de invierno cuando los huracanes del Atlántico norte generan oleajes más grandes.

Ambas playas se localizan dentro de la Hacienda La Esperanza, una reserva natural administrada por Para la Naturaleza. Playa Túmbolo presenta un túmbolo, una formación geológica rara donde una barra de arena conecta una roca offshore con el continente, lo que la hace una de las formaciones costeras más inusuales de Puerto Rico. Playa Esperanza complementa esta característica con una cove protegida por piedra caliza donde se forman piscinas tranquilas entre paredes rocosas.
